Organization and Meeting Overview: The first TFGIW meeting was held at the Army Corps of Engineer’s office, Ft. Worth, Texas on November 19, 1998. Each of the nine Federal agency representatives, two state representatives, and one local representative gave a short overview on their mapping and GIS activities in Texas. Group meetings deal with issues such as emergency management disaster response coordination, land use and land cover standards for Texas, and US/Mexico Border activities. The group meets four times a year at various locations in Texas to ease travel costs and to increase the opportunities for agencies to visit each other’s sites. Jean Parcher, Acting Chief of the Texas MPO and Paul McKee, Hydrologist at the National Weather Service in Fort Worth are current co-chairs of the workgroup. |
